Autumn Around The Pond

A few days ago I took some photos while the trees were in their autumn beauty in this area. The news said that last weekend was the peak time for the autumn scenery in the north Georgia mountains. Our trees here turn color later than that and many are still pretty here, so I wanted to show you a few pictures of autumn around the vicinity of the pond.

This first one is looking east from my porch toward our road out front. The horizontal line through the woods on left is the dam of the pond. A small stream runs between the house and the pond.

Looking northeast from the porch you can see the glen next to the small stream.

The scene here is southeast looking toward the driveway and Baker's front pasture.

Looking toward the west, the yellow tree-top in the middle of this picture is a huge beech nut tree.

This one is looking south from my yard, with Baker's back pasture in the far background.

Last but not least, here is the pond later that afternoon. Though the sun was getting low you can still see some bright colors in the tree-tops.
I hope you enjoyed my little tour around the area of the pond.

Shinade, Thank you. I do feel very blessed to live in a country place and have these pretty woods.

Kelly, You're welcome, and thanks for coming by. Texas has some mighty pretty places around there too.

Spooky, Thank you for your compliment. I bet the snow is pretty up there though. Sorry, but I don't envy you for it. I get SO cold!
I don't even like it down here in the winter! LOL

Denise, Thanks so much. Am very glad that you enjoyed it.

Cheryl, Thank you very much. We are blessed.
Your garden there is also beautiful though winter has come to it.

Sophiemae, Thank you for the lovely compliment, and my humble thanks to you for the award! That was very sweet of you and I will try to live up to it.
    - Yes, I know it sure does get cold in Fla. too. My husband & I lived in Daytona Beach (Ponce Inlet) for 7 yrs. and I didn't even like Fla. in the winter time. LOL
(When a "Nor-easter" comes in off the Atlantic it is COOOOOOLD !

MyMaracas, Thanks to you also and so glad you like the scenes. I know your snow must be pretty, but stay in and stay warm.

Michelle, Thanks so much. I am going to try to post more often. So glad you like the autumn scenes here and glad they warmed you. Your place and woods were so pretty with the autumn colors too, and your snow is just lovely. Like I said to Spookey though, I don't envy you up there with all that snow; I don't even like Ga. in the winter ! Ha ha
    Take care and stay warm.

Thanks so much and hugs to all of you.

  11. Such a beautiful area. I love the colours and all the treasures I can imagine are there waiting to be found!

  12. Hi - I found your blog recently and really like it. What a great idea for a blog. I signed on to follow it and look forward to more posts. I can see I have some catching up to do! Art in Virginia

  13. Hi Graceanne Grateful - thanks for your kind posts on my blogs. I am glad that you enjoyed them. I have enjoyed writing them, plus the hiking blog reminds me that I am overdue for a hike when I haven't posted there in a while. :) I am glad that I found your blog.

As far as LLS is concerned, it is a great cause. So many are affected by cancers. I had a relatively easy time of it compared to what so many go through, and even so, it was tough enough. Giving back by trying to raise money to defeat these diseases is the least I can do after my good fortune in surviving and returning to health.

Sometimes I visualize how I will feel if I live long enough to hear that all blood cancers are curable or at least manageable, and to realize that I had a tiny part in that.

I am so glad to hear about your daughter being healthy. That is an amazing story. Please email her name to me and I will write it on my race shirt for Nashville if you like. Give her my wishes for continued good health. Art

PS - I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It sounds like you have blessings to count!

  14. What a beautiful setting you have! Autumn and Spring are my favorite times of the year.

  15. It is so nice to see your autumn photos. All of our trees are skeletons against a grey sky. Still beautiful, but in a very differnt way.

  16. It is awe inspiring to see such beauty. How lovely for you to be living in such a gorgeous place. Seeing nature in such glory makes me believe in powers so much beyond our mere mortal comprehension.

  17. Thank you all for your wonderful comments.
    Have a blessed week.

Thanks for stopping by to visit our little pond. We would love to see you again real soon.
