The Most Furry Ones Around

With this week's Photo Hunt theme as "Furry" I will introduce you to my two furry "kids", Pixie and Pansy. Since they live in my house with me, they live near the pond also. They are the most furry things anywhere around here as you can see. And I believe these animals must be the most loyal, affectionate, and loving creatures on the whole planet.
Now in case you don't know what kind these are, they are toy Pomeranians.
This is Pixie.
Although Pixie is almost 17 years old (will be in April) and takes heart medicine now because of her old age, she is still otherwise healthy and gets around very well. She weighs between 7 & 8 pounds. Below is another photo of Pixie:
This is Pansy when she was an 8 week old puppy. We named her Pansy because her face looks like the dark face in the flower Pansy.
Pansy is a "parti-colored" Pom, 5 years old, and is almost as little as a "tea cup" Pom, as she only weighs 4 & 1/2 lbs. She is a first, as we never had a 'two-colored' Pom before. Though Pansy is fully mature she still acts like a puppy sometimes; she loves to play with her little stuffed toys, and she whines like a puppy when I come home. She is so loving and sweet its hard to believe.

I had never seen or even heard of a Pomeranian until I was grown. When I was still dating my husband, he took me to see some Poms that a family owned in his neighborhood and I fell in love with them. After we married we saved aside a little money at a time and in 1955 we bought our first Pom puppy, a little orange male whom we named Teddy Bear.

Below is another picture of Pansy with her other favorite toy, her elephant.
We/I have had Pomeranians for almost 54 years now. That's a lot of Furry ! - And oh, what a joy they have been.

  1. Oh Graceann..how lovely to see a post from Fish and Frog and what beautiful dogs. My sister has a little pom and she travels everywhere with my sister. She has faced some health issues with seizures and she had a knee replacement. But she is so sweet as I am sure your poms are too..Lovely..lovely.. Have a great weekend... Michelle..

  2. Thank you, Michelle, for your precious words.
I am so sorry that your sister's Pom has had that trouble and I can empathize with her, as Pansy has also had a few seizures over the years due to low blood sugar occasionally, so I know the feeling. But like your sister's, Pansy is so sweet and loving and such a joy.
And want a doggie that can be a cat too? (I love cats also and have had many over the years) Poms wash themselves like a cat; they wash their feet, and wash their face by licking their foot and rubbing their face just like a cat does. How 'bout that !?
Thanks again and hopefully Baker will be posting again soon.
Have a great one too. Graceanne :)

  4. Hi Graceanne,
It's good to hear from you again. I have played photohunter in a while.

Altough I like bigger dogs, yours are about the cutest little things I've ever seen. They looks so adorable and cuddly. Pansy reminds be of our Cookie who is a Border Collie.

Hope you and Baker are doing well and that this new year is starting off well.

  6. Hi, Kelly,
Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet words about my furry "babies".
Neither Baker nor I have been doing photo hunt regularly lately. Maybe he will get back into the blog more when spring comes. Sorry I haven't written you more lately.
Ah, border collies are pretty dogs too and I am sure yours is a sweet one.
Hope you have a great week too.

  8. Aaaawwwww, they're adorable! My best friend had a Pom for years. After she lost him, she couldn't bear to get another, bless her heart. They're one of my favourite little dogs. I'm a big dog person myownself. The bigger the better. Duller and I compromised and got a border collie/Aussie mix. She is definitely HIS DOG. As far as she's concerned the sun rises and sets with him.

    Have a JESUS-filled day! ^i^
